The brief

Saigon Bites is a small family-run Vietnamese kitchen in Wyoming, NSW, cooking Mum's recipes for takeaway, delivery and a few tables.

The food was there; a brand and a way to order online were not. The job: an identity as warm as the cooking, and a site that takes the order .

The website on desktop

  • The home page: fresh, vibrant, Vietnamese, a bánh mì on a glaze circle
  • The classics: pho, bánh mì and the Saigon Bowl, a duotone card each
  • The order in a drawer over the menu, ready for checkout
  • Our story: where every meal tells a story, and three promises
  • The lunch menu: dishes as cards, each cut out on its colour
  • Something to sip: six drinks on mustard
  • Come find us: the address, the hours and the map
  • Shaking beef on a glaze circle, its sides to add
  • Our mission, and the words they want to be known by as pills
  • Your wok, your way: a stir fry built in three steps
  • Open five days: lunch and dinner as rounded cards
  • Hungry? Let’s fix that: the last call and the foot

What we made

We started from the family and their food, then made the brand, the site and its ordering, and everything that goes out the door with a meal.

Visit their site

Strategy

Sessions with the family found what sets them apart: Mum’s recipes, herbs that never sit around, broth on before breakfast. That became the brand’s voice and the site’s story, and a framework for the site built around one thing: getting from hungry to ordered.

We made

  • Brand strategy
  • Tone of voice
  • Website framework

Identity

A wordmark with chopsticks rising out of the O, Chelsea Market for the loud lines and Stevie Sans for the rest, and a palette named for the kitchen: perilla, glaze, mustard, leaf, crackling, prawn, fine china.

We made

  • Logo
  • Colour system
  • Typography

Website

Built on Square Online, so the menu, the orders and the payments live in one place, and designed on the brand’s own system: bold duotone pairs, their dishes cut out on circles, rounded edges. Every dish opens to be made your way, and the order is a tap away from any page.

We made

  • UI design
  • Square Online website
  • Online ordering

Digital

On the feed, the same voice: posts and stories in their colours, the dishes front and centre, and prompts that start a conversation about dinner.

We made

  • Social media
  • Stories
  • Post templates

Print

Everything that leaves the kitchen carries the brand: the stickers that seal the bags, the cards at the counter, the poster in the window and the apron behind it.

We made

  • Packaging stickers
  • Business cards
  • Poster
  • Apron

Highly recommend three55 studio, the logo was amazing and how we wanted and they were quick to build our website within short time constraints. Communication was great, wouldn't go anywhere else for building your brand concept and online presence.
